Reactions on Obi Cubana’s mother lavish burial.

Motley of reactions have trailed the ostentatious display of wealth and outright lavishness on the burial of Ezinne Uche Iyiegbu the mother of a popular business magnate Obi Iyiagu, popularly known as Obi Cubana.

Obi Cubana’s mother was buried in Oba, Anambra state, on July 16, 2021 with a casket valued about 30 million Naira.

The burial attracted a good number of crème de la crème of the society, including famous actors as Zuby Micheal, Kanayo O Kanoyo, Ubi Franklin, among others. Also billionaires such as E Money and Cubana Chief Priest.

During the occasion, bundles of currency ranging from Naira to Dollar were tossed up to the aloft awaiting hands of the attendants. Hundreds of cows were also slaughtered to entertain the condolers.

Reacting to this, a good number of people vented the view that a rich man should not be told how to spend his money, adding that nothing was wrong with the lavish way he celebrated the life of his mother.

However, others hold the opinion that it was highly indecent and not in conformity with the moral standard of the society.

A veteran journalist and the Editor-in-chief of the Fides Newspaper, Jude Atupulazi saw it an outright display of illiteracy, adding that it would have a huge bad influence on the psych of youths.

“The Oba gaudy show, which is how I see Cubana’s mum’s burial, is actually the height of illiteracy. What’s happening in Oba has set society back by ten years. It has undone all efforts being made to set our impressionable youths on the right path. Now some of them are bound to question the propriety of honest and hard work. They will begin to think and believe that the end justifies the means. They will begin to adopt false heroes and role models”, he said.
