Princess Ugonwaeze the tennis sports medalist, pays courtesy visit to Anaocha LG boss(Photos).
The team was warmly received at the office of the chairman in the local government secretariat Neni, Anaocha local government area.
As expected, One of the purpose of the visit included appreciation of the local government chairman,Hon. Onyedum on his good works in Anaocha and its environs, and most especially in the aspect of Athletics in Anaocha /Anambra State .
The team being lead by PRINCESS UGONWAEZEH -AGUGO expressed her hearth felt gratitude and happiness concerning the level and recent achievements of the Athletics through Hon Patrick Estate Onyedum as sports friendly Local Government Chairman.
Furthermore, PRINCESS ALBAN UGONWAEZEH-AGUGO, Appointed new members of Sub Committee of the PLAYERS WELFARE OF AFRICAN RUGBY UNION
Princess Alban Ugonwaezeh-Agugo, hails from Adazi-Nnukwu in Anaocha Local Govt. Area of Anambra State. She started her sporting career in tennis and has won so many medals. In the year 2007, she was sponsored to a training tour at the HPC Sports Academy in Pretoria South Africa, later she came back to play the Delta State Festival and was the Champion in the female singles category.
She also represented her school, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe and won back to back Double Gold and Silver medals in the NIGERIA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION GAMES (NICEGA) held in Kano in (2009) and Omork River State in 2012. To that effect, she was honoured twice by the Students’ Union Government of her school.
Also, She was the Champion at the Anambra State Sport Festival in 2011 at the female tennis singles and mix doubles.
As a Rugby player, she is the first Delta State Captain in Rugby and her team won Gold and Silver medals in the National Sports Festival held in Kaduna State in 2009. It may interest you to know that she is the Primus Captain of the Nigeria National Female Rugby Team and led the national women team to the West African Women Rugby Championship held in Accra Ghana and was unbeatable to every other team in the exception of the Tunisian ladies who narrowly beat the Nigeria ladies in the finals placing the Lady Stallions in the second position.
She is an Educationist per excellence. She obtained her NCE from the above mentioned school, B.ed from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and M.SC in view from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.
On 31st January 2021, Princess Ugonwaezeh’s name was shortlisted for a leadership scholarship by the African Rugby Union. Shortly after that, an ambassadorial appointment news dropped as she was also appointed a member of the Sub Committee on Players Welfare on the 5th of February 2021.
Princess Ugonwaezeh, promised to open sports Academy in Anaocha local government at the secondary schools and also bring in the best coaches in Africa to train the youths free of charge.
The local government chairman, Hon. Patrick Onyedum, in his welcome remarks, appreciated and acknowledged the team on the visit, and went on to express his happiness on the recognition of think Back Home “, Anaocha as regards to competency, commitment and industrious .
He used the opportunity to thank Princess Ugonwaezeh on her corporation and collaboration with the local govt to keep moving the sporting activities to greater heights. He also thanked her for the courtesy visit, and assured her that Anaocha local government area will continue to ensure that coach training will benefit more youths and his adminstration will always be supportive.
Inclusion, the courtesy visit was to encourage the state and the local government to keep on with their good works in the state especially on the aspect of sports !
