ONE NIGERIA: Uproar As Nigeria Ministry of Education Allegedly Approves Civic Education Textbook Discreding Igbo People
The Nigeria Ministry of Education has come under heavy criticism from the citizens particularly the Igbo people alleging that it has approved a Civic Education Textbook that bluntly discredits “Ndi Igbo” as a peaceful tribe.
The book which is for Primary School pupils categorically describes Igbo people as invaders and troublemakers.
Concerned citizens including Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor Esq. have reacted to the development describing it as a terribly distorted history aimed at setting one ethnic group against another.
According to Barr. Ejiofor Esq, this is the type of history the master strategist might introduce to set Igbo people against Yorubas. May God deliver us from their hands.
Others wrote:
“In the history of Igbo people, they are not known for invading people’s land, but here is a book for primary school describing Ndi Igbo as such.
“The attack on Ndi Igbo is, ongoing both in the print media, television and as well as in our schools.
“It’s now very clear the fight IPOB is fighting is something every Igbo man may raise now to defend the cause for the restoration of Biafra.”
