Nollywood Actress, Others Slams Judges After Bobrisky Won ‘Best Dressed Female’ Award At Lagos Event
In a surprising turn of events at the premiere of the movie “Ajanaku: Beast of Two Worlds” held at Circle Mall, Lekki, on March 24, 2024, renowned cross-dresser, Bobrisky, emerged as the winner of the ‘Best Dressed Female’ award, alongside a cash prize of N1 million.
This decision has sparked a notable controversy, particularly from Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa, who publicly voiced her concerns over the award selection. The movie premiere, produced by Eniola Ajao, attracted a multitude of celebrities, making it a significant occasion in the entertainment calendar. Bobrisky’s win, however, has raised questions about the criteria and fairness of such awards.
Dayo Amusa took to her Instagram to express her dissatisfaction with the judges’ decision to award a cross-dresser the ‘Best Dressed Female’ title. She argued that this act served as a disservice to the women present at the event, suggesting that a separate category for cross-dressers would have been a more respectful approach.
Amusa’s critique focuses on the implications of such decisions within the context of societal norms and the respect towards women in competitive scenarios. “I was at a colleague of mine’s premiere yesterday, they said the best dressers are to be picked; one female and one male best dresser. The winner could be anyone but definitely not a cross-dresser,” Amusa stated, highlighting her astonishment and disapproval of the outcome.
This incident has ignited a broader discussion among Nigerians on social media, with many debating the appropriateness of awarding cross-dressers in traditional gender-specific categories.
