Concerned Nigerians have shared divergent views as the Senate is set to screen one of the media aides of the President, Lauretta Onochie, and five other nominees as commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) eight months after their names were sent to the upper chamber by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation.
The Senate have therefore mandated its Committee on INEC, headed by Senator Kabir Gaya, to screen the nominees within four weeks and report back to plenary.
Meanwhile De Erudite Media Team gathered that the President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, at Wednesday’s plenary, read out the list of the nominees to be screened by the INEC Committee apart from Onochie to include Prof. Muhammad Kallah (Katsina); Prof. Kunle Ajayi (Ekiti); Saidu Ahmad (Jigawa); Prof. Sani Adam (North-central) and Dr. Baba Bila (North-east).
Consequently, reactions seen so far are seemingly against the nominees while some have their supports for the media aides while describing their nomination as a move in a right direction.
