Nigerian Army Count Losses in Fresh Boko Haram Ambush
A tragic ambush by Boko Haram terrorists has resulted in the deaths of a Lieutenant Colonel and six soldiers of the Nigerian Army.
The devastating attack occurred along the Biu-Buni Yadi road, Benue State, casting a shadow over the nation’s ongoing struggle against terrorism.
This incident unfolded merely a week following the burial of military personnel who were previously killed in Delta State, signifying a period of mourning and reflection within the military community. The burial took place at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja, marking a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by those in the line of duty.
The ambush took place at Kamuya, a village not far from Buratai, the hometown of Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai (retired), the former Chief of Army Staff. It’s reported that the soldiers, belonging to the 135 Special Force BN FOB based in Buratai, were on their way to Damaturu in Yobe State with the intention of purchasing fuel when they were overtaken by the insurgents.
The loss encompasses an officer, a driver, a gunner, and four additional escorts, with others wounded in the attack now receiving medical treatment. The severity of the ambush was further highlighted by a local who narrowly escaped the attack. His account paints a harrowing picture of a fierce gun battle, where the insurgents, significantly outnumbering the soldiers, managed to overwhelm them.
