2023: Tinubu Camp Speaks On Obasanjo Supporting Peter Obi

The Tinubu Campaign Organisation has refuted claims that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is supporting the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi. Naija News recalls that Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) alongside his running mate, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, had met with Obasanjo on July 17. On August 25, Obasanjo alongside Obi met with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and some governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in London. The former President had also met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu and some of his allies at his Ota residence. Speaking with The Punch, the spokesman of the Tinubu Campaign Organisation, Bayo Onanuga, stated that Obasanjo is not supporting any candidate. Wike: PDP Governors Reportedly Dump Atiku, Reach Deal To Support Tinubu

Information has emerged that some Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have allegedly reached a deal to work against the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. Instead of working for Atiku, the Governors reportedly reached a deal to secretly support the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu without defecting from the PDP. Naija News understands the Governors fingered in the development are loyalists of their Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike who has been at loggerheads with Atiku over the outcome of the party’s presidential primary election and the subsequent emergence of Ifeanyi Okowa as the vice presidential candidate. A source quoted by Vanguard says the Governors; Nyesom Wike (Rivers) Samuel Ortom (Benue) Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu(Abia) Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) all reached the agreement during their recent meeting in London. According to the source, the Governors want assurances that their preferred candidates will be allowed to win Senate and House of Representatives seats in their respective states but Tinubu could not fully commit to the demands. Senators elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are reportedly angry with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State over his opposition to the presidential candidate of the PDP, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. It was gathered that the lawmakers, across party lines, and Northern leaders feel that Wike’s continuous attack on Atiku is an attack on the north. Naija News reports that despite moves to reconcile Atiku and Wike, the Rivers State Governor and his loyalists (Governors Samuel Ortom, Seyi Makinde, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Benue, Oyo, and Abia States) are insisting on the removal of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu. Atiku while speaking on the aim of the meeting noted that he met with the candidates to strategise on how to defeat the opposition parties in 2023. 2023: Tinubu Camp Speaks On Composition of APC Presidential Campaign Council

The Tinubu Campaign Organisation (TCO) says that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would soon constitute its presidential campaign council. Naija News earlier reported that the conflict of interest among power brokers and stakeholders in the party on those who should be part of the council is largely responsible for the delay in the composition of the council. It was also learned that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu is wary of having saboteurs within the council. Tinubu and his loyalists are trying to avoid a hijack of the process of the council composition. A source who spoke to Dailytrust on the delay was quoted to have cited “unabated crisis, discordant tunes, selfishness and lack of internal democracy” in the APC as major reasons for the delay. The Tinubu group claimed that the LP candidate had violated provisions of the Electoral Act on campaign funding and should be disqualified by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) even though there’s no indication that Obi has begun receiving campaign donations, whether locally or from the diaspora. Lagos: Tinubu Denies Ownership Of Oriental Hotel, Other Assets

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has distanced himself from some properties linked to him in Lagos State. The former Governor of Lagos State denied ownership of some properties in the state which include the Oriental Hotel and Civic Center. Tinubu revealed this in a documentary where he spoke about his achievements as the governor of Lagos State. The presidential candidate in an excerpt of the documentary posted by the media aide to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gaw on his Twitter account said the entire Lekki environs was a refuse dump that took months to clear. Oriental Hotel was linked to Tinubu in 2020 after hoodlums destroyed the facility on the ground that the property belongs to the presidential candidate.
