Junior Pope’s Death: AGN Suspends Riverine Area Film Productions, Bars Actors From Working With Producer

In light of the heartbreaking boat mishap that led to the untimely demise of renowned actor John Paul Odonwodo, known affectionately as Junior Pope, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has made the difficult decision to halt all film projects involving river scenes and boat rides.

The accident, which also claimed the life of another person named Mr. Friday and left three others missing, occurred at the River Niger Cable Point in Asaba, Delta State, during the shooting of “The Other Side Of Life,” a film produced by Adamma Luke.

Emeka Rollas, the AGN National President, announced in a recent statement that in addition to stopping such productions, the specific movie in production at the time of the accident will be suspended indefinitely. Furthermore, the AGN has issued a temporary ban on any collaborations with the producer, Adamma Luke, until further notice.

This move comes as part of the guild’s broader response to ensure the safety of its members and to reflect on the necessary precautions for future projects. The AGN has also declared a day of no filming across the nation on Thursday, April 11, 2024, as a mark of respect for the deceased and those still missing
