Opinion: By Chinazom Hyginus of De Erudite media

The two weeks UK medical trip of President Muhammadu Buhari had attracted several unfavorable reactions from especially, the members of the major opposition to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), the People’s Democratic Party, whom consistently berate the present adminstration for several reasons including the health sector among others.

Similarly, some concerned citizens in the diaspora, particularly in London, went as far as protesting at the front of the country’s embassy and also the said hospital, where President Buhari had stayed for two weeks.

The demonstration tagged ” repatriate Buhari From London” was championed by a popular Nigerian activitist Bemigho Reno Omokri.

Omokri who regretted the leadership loopholes in this present adminstration, questioned the reasons for the growing insecurity rampaging the country, the bans on the importations of food stuffs, the ban of Nigerian companies from placement of adverts on the foreign media, among others.
In response, it could be recalled that the Social Media Aide to Buhari, Laurrreta Onochie replied the group of Protesters saying that the President would not abandon his doctor for over forty years just to please the wailers.

It is saddening looking at the circumstances surrounding the weeks of medical trip of the Mr President, in comparison to the various issues ruining the country before, during and after his return from UK. The inarguable fact that the guarantee for the security of lives and properties of the citizens of the country have long been a mirage still baffle every right thinking compatriot.

In the same vein, it is on record that virtually every sectors of the system in the country, ranging from security, health, education, agriculture, politics and economy among others are already in shambles.
Notwithstanding, no one still finds it new, the extrajudicial massacres of the Nigerian citizens, including the security personnel in states across the country, which have triggered palpable tensions among the people resident in the already affected areas and others.

Just few days ago, the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD suspended their strike, over the failure of the federal government to fulfill the part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two parties.

According to the president of NARD, Dr. Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, the strike was suspended based on the renewed promise of the federal government to reach out to some demands of the Association, saying that the MOU was the second in the recent past.

Similarly, the Academic Union of Polytechnics have over the alleged negligency by the federal government, embarked on an indefinite strike. Also the strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria ( JUSUN) etc, is ongoing.

On the other hand, the economy nosedives daily amidst the growing unemployment and threats of COVID-19 global pandemic.

One would thank God that president Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday evening, successfully returned to Nigeria, after spending weeks in hospital in the United Kingdom.

At this point, one would be tempted to ask; what do NIGERIANS expect, as President Buhari returns?
Should one sit back and watch as things continue to deteriorate? What are the expectations of Nigerians as Buhari Returns
Your thoughts could be as good as ours.
