One of the leading pan-Igbo ethnic groups has on Saturday, 29th of May, 2021 convoked a general assembly of opinion leaders from all works of life and members and leaders of the Igbo National Council (INC), an occasion which Prof. Peter Umeadi chaired.

The INC is prided by the group to be the vanguard grassroot-based-membership of the Igbo race and Igbo Nation. It’s adjudged to be the leadership core for the Igbo emancipation and represents the developmental demands of the Igbo productive forces committed to the re-engineering of Igbo value system, economy and political culture and structure. The INC was established in 2012 with the goal of achieving cohesion and pan-Igbo mindset amongst the Igbo nationalities in Nigeria and diaspora.

The INC in the summit held at Travelers Hotels, Okpoko Onitsha, Anambra State on the 29th of May, 2021 deliberated on issues that addressed the challenges faced in governance in the state and to perfect measures to ensure a free, fair, safe and credible governorship election in the state on November 6th, 2021.

Recall that Prof. Umeadi has recently declared his interest in contesting for the presidency in the forthcoming 2023 general elections under the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA. This declaration has however been generating mixed reactions from across the nation, with many groups especially in the eastern part of Nigeria endorsing the professor and declaring their support for him.
