Gunmen kidnap police officer in Kwara

Gunmen have kidnapped an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), ASP Abdulmumini Yusuf, popularly known as Emirate No 1, in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

It was gathered that the police officer was kidnapped on Tuesday night in front of his house at the Ogidi area of Ilorin.

According to Daily Trust, the state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Paul Odama, who confirmed the development in a telephone chat, said that, “We are still on it.”

A resident, Jamiu Abdulganiyu, said the development had thrown the community into fear and apprehension.

Reacting to the kidnap incident, the Kwara State Secretary of the Community Policing Advisory Committee, Shola Muse, said the development highlighted the growing insecurity in the state, noting that the situation was getting worse.

He, therefore, called on the security agencies to improve on their strategies in tackling the situation.
