Generator Fumes Kill Two Nigeria Students, Affect Others

Two students of Kogi State Polytechnic in Lokoja have reportedly lost their lives due to the inhalation of generator exhaust fumes.

The incident, confirmed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya to Channels Television, also left another student hospitalized.

The unfortunate event occurred when a power generator, situated close to the window of their living space, emitted fumes while the students were asleep, leading to the untimely deaths of Bilikisu Tijjani Eleojo, aged 20, and Ibrahim Haliru, aged 26. Mercy Ojochegbe, the third student, survived the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Neighbors discovered the lifeless bodies of the deceased students in their room early Thursday morning, highlighting the dangers of improper use of power generators in residential areas.
