FIFA Best Player award: Lewandowski sure of beating Messi, Ronaldo

Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski, has expressed confidence that he would win the FIFA Men’s Best Player award ahead of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo on Thursday.

DAILY POST recalls that Lewandowski, Messi and Ronaldo was shortlisted as the final three-man nominees for the award.

Lewandowski, 32, helped Bayern Munich to win the treble (Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League) last season after scoring 55 goals in all competition for the Bavarians.

The 32-year-old was also the highest goal scorer in the three competitions.

“We were the best, there’s no doubt about that,” Lewandowski said on Wednesday as quoted by NDTV SPORTS ahead of the online ceremony at FIFA headquarters in Zurich.

“After a season when you have scored a lot of goals and won everything, I don’t think there’s anyone I can compare myself to,” Lewandowski added confidently.
