Federal Government Announces Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr 2024 Celebrations
In a move that brings joy and celebration to the Muslim community and beyond, the Nigerian Federal Government has officially declared Tuesday, April 9th, and Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, as public holidays.
These days are set aside to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the fasting period of Ramadan.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released on Sunday by Aishetu Ndayako, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary. In his message, the Minister extended heartfelt congratulations to all Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.
Minister Tunji-Ojo also took this opportunity to encourage Muslims to continue living out the values of kindness, love, tolerance, and compassion, virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) exemplified. He emphasized the importance of good neighbourliness and peace, urging all Nigerians to foster unity and work together towards a more peaceful nation.
As Eid-el-Fitr approaches, the Minister expressed his best wishes to the Muslim community for a joyful celebration. He hoped that the festivities would bring peace, blessings, and favor from Allah not just to individuals and their families, but to Nigeria as a whole
