EXCLUSIVE: 2023: How OBJ’s New Political Party Would Save Nigeria From Bad Governance

Prior to every general elections in Nigeria, political mavericks play their cards either selectively or disparagingly. The endpoint of such displays is geared towards attaining or maintaining political relevance of one in the society. The essence of these perceived strategies therefore, cannot be overemphasized while the chunks of the society tend to hoover around prominent personalities who had in a time or another proven beyond doubts to be the stakeholders in the society.

Meanwhile, as the country continues to dilly-dally towards another general poll, political strategists are beginning to map out ways that would enable them to attain certain political importance and objectives in the society.

Former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo is known for his giant strides in Nigeria democracy, which have endeared him with indisputable relevance in the political discussion of Nigeria and Africa at large.
Having garnered experiences in the military system and civilian government respectively, the ex-president is in no small measure a political maverick and strategist, who understands the nitty-gritty of the game politics in Nigeria.

Worthy of note is his declaration as a nonpartisan member of the society prior to the 2015 general elections in Nigeria. The former president of Nigeria was said to have carefully absolved the Nigerian system of democracy and consequently, took his shots on time. He is one among equals that Nigerians heed his words. Thus, his political relevance knows no bounds.

In view of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo is alleged to be setting modalities for a brand new political party that would presumably take over the mantle of leadership from the present administration under the auspices of the All Progressive Congress APC.

The speculations are based on the information on the formation of a new political party intended to accommodate the aggrieved members from and across every political party in Nigeria especially, ones from the APC and the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP.

To this effect, Obasanjo dares to assuage the political climate in Nigeria if the July 23rd meeting goes well with his ambition. It is a move that would bring together political heavyweights from across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria, with a view to forming a standard political party capable of bringing the desired change the Nigerian society is clamouring for.

According to Sunday Vanguard, Obasanjo is convinced that the two major political parties are likely to be embroiled in serious legal and political conflicts that would leave them in a bad shape to be able to contest and win the forthcoming elections and form a national government.

Meanwhile, Source said that although the former President claimed that he had since torn his PDP membership card and resigned from active politics, he was still active in mobilising Nigerians to influence the emergence of the next President, governors and other leaders.

“Even as the name for the hybrid party has not been made public as we speak, Baba is seriously mobilising his keen loyalists and die-hard supporters across the country to actualise his dream of installing a government that would be answerable to him,” a source privy to the new political calculation, said last night.

It was later learnt that Obasanjo is hoping to harvest many key members of the two major political parties into his new party as a result of the forthcoming preparations for 2023.

He is said to be seriously banking on the potential rancour that would envelop the ruling APC over the conduct of its primaries and inability to manage the discontent coupled with the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari is not likely to intervene in the crisis since he is not contesting again.

The ex-President is also said to be worried about the overbearing influence of a South-South governor in the PDP and his simmering altercation with the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus.

Thereby weakening the cohesion that would have helped the party to work as a family with the hope of taking over power from the APC.

Thus, Nigerians in search of political Messiah comes 2023 general elections are likely going to embrace a new dawn to be brought about by the ex-president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.
