EPL: We discussed him – Bayern Munich make honest transfer confession about Ronaldo

Oliver Kahn, the CEO of Bayern Munich, has been open about the club’s frank admission that they ‘briefly discussed’ possibly acquiring Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo during the summer transfer window.

Ronaldo wanted to leave Manchester United in the summer and join a team that would play in the Champions League.

During the summer transfer window, the 37-year-old was frequently associated with teams like Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Napoli.

However, Man United quickly stepped in and made it clear that they were not prepared to sell the Portugal captain.

“We briefly discussed Ronaldo at Bayern and Dortmund probably did too,” Kahn told SportBILD. “We also see the big picture of the Bundesliga.

“Of course, superstars like Ronaldo are an important factor in attracting attention to the league. He is one of the greatest of the last decade. But we quickly dismissed that.”

Ronaldo’s current contract with Man United will expire at the end of the current season.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was left out on the bench during Man United’s Premier League derby defeat to Manchester City last weekend.

The former Juventus and Real Madrid star will now hope to start when Man United clash with Cypriot outfit Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League on Thursday night.
