Enugu Ex-SSG, Dan Shere, Other Hostages Regain Freedom From Kidnappers

Two days after his abduction by a group of unknown gunmen, former secretary to the Enugu State Government (SSG), Dan Shere has regained his freedom.

Naija News recalls that the medical doctor was one of the several people abducted on Thursday along the Enugu-Ugwuogo Nike-Nsukka Road. They were on their way to Nsukka for a meeting when the gunmen ambushed their vehicle and took away Shere alongside other travellers on the route. One of the survivors of the incident had told newsmen earlier that the assailants were about eight in number. The individual while sharing details of the event in a viral video clip, thanked God for saving him and four others from the incident, adding that one of the passengers was hit by a bullet. However, hours after the incident, Shere on Saturday regained his freedom together with other hostages, leading to jubilation in the entire Nsukka town. Naija News learnt there was the presence of many residents at Shere’s residence yesterday, where a wild celebration was held. It is, however, unclear if money was released for Shere’s free and how much is involved. The Enugu State Government, however, reportedly moved bulldozers into the location Saturday morning, clearing the thick forest.
