Court sentences Lagos monarch to 15 years in prison

The dethroned Baale of Shangisha in the Magodo area of Lagos, Mutiu Ogundare has been sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment.

The traditional ruler was charged with faking his kidnapping and breaching of peace and subsequently arraigned before an Ikeja High Court.

Recall that the former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on July 13, 2017, suspended the Baale over a kidnap incident.

After five years, Justice Hakeem Oshodi, on Tuesday, sentenced Ogundare, having convicted him of a two-count bordering on breach of peace in the state and fake kidnapping.

Also jailed for the same prison term was his brother, Opeyemi Mohammed.

The court, however, set his wife Abolanle, free, having earlier absolved her of the charges earlier leveled against her.
