BREAKING: Viral Disease Outbreak Claims Over 30 People in Gombe
Palpable tension grips the residents of Gombe State as a yet-to-be-ascertained disease claimed over 30 lives.
According to Sahara reporters, the first cases were reported at a public primary school within the Nafada Local Government Area, sparking widespread concern among the local communities.
This alarming situation, unfolding since February 2024, involves children aged between one and fifteen years showing symptoms such as fever, headaches, stomachaches, vomiting, and swollen legs.
Initial thoughts that this could be a resurgence of meningitis were quickly dispelled when 11 samples out of 20 from patients treated at the General Hospital in Nafada tested negative for the disease.
This revelation has only added to the growing fear among healthcare professionals who are at the frontline of this crisis.
Kefas Silanda, speaking on behalf of the hospital, confirmed the outbreak and elaborated on the efforts being undertaken by doctors and healthcare workers to manage and contain this enigmatic illness.
