Attack: Gunmen Kill Driver As Party Guber Candidate Escapes Death
In a hit of the polity, the Ebonyi State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Prof Benard Odoh, narrowly escaped death when his convoy was attacked by gunmen suspected to be assassins on Thursday night.
The incident occurred in the Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.
According to a source, who pleaded anonymity, Prof Odoh was returning from the Agba community in Ishielu, where he had gone for a consultation when his convoy was ambushed at the Rest House area along the Abakaliki/Enugu Expressway.
It was also gathered that the assailants, who parked an unmarked Sienna bus along the road, opened fire on the convoy of the governorship candidate and riddled his Toyota SUV with bullets.
Consequently, the driver was reportedly killed during the attack while his police orderly and three others sustained varying degrees of bullet wounds.
