APC Suspends National Chairman, Ganduje Amidst Bribery Allegations
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently facing a new crisis following the suspension of its National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, by party members in Kano State.
The suspension, announced by the executive members of Ganduje’s own ward in the Dawakin-Tofa local government area, comes amid allegations of bribery and corruption. These accusations have been levied against him by the Kano State Government.
Dr. Ganduje, who also served as the former governor of Kano State, has been charged with gross misconduct and the misappropriation of state funds during his tenure. Halliru Gwanzo, the legal adviser of the ward, conveyed the decision to journalists, highlighting that the suspension was a collective agreement by the ward members due to the severity of the allegations.
According to Gwanzo, the decision was made because Dr. Ganduje was unable to refute the corruption claims that marred his 8-year governance. He emphasized that the gravity of the accusations necessitated the suspension from the party, marking a crucial move by the local party leadership against a prominent national figure.
