Anambra Speaker Receives Hearty Homecoming Celebration , Launches New Garri Processing Center
Anambra State Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze, received a heartwarming welcome at a homecoming ceremony held in his honor at Atani, in the Ogbaru Local Government Area.
The event not only celebrated his return but also marked a major milestone with the laying of the foundation stone for a new Garri Processing Center, aimed at supporting local cassava farmers.
During the ceremony, held at Central School Atani, Speaker Udeze was joined by other local dignitaries, including the traditional ruler of Atani, HRM Igwe Azuka Ngoady, and representatives from various cooperatives. This project, deeply important to Udeze—who is himself a farmer—aims to reduce economic losses due to inadequate processing facilities, benefiting the entire Ogbaru farming community.
The ceremony began with traditional rites and a royal blessing from HRM Igwe Azuka Ngoady. Alongside Udeze, Commissioner for Information Mr. Paul Nwosu also received accolades from the community. The Speaker took this opportunity to express his gratitude for the support from his community and outlined the positive impacts of Governor Soludo’s administration on the region. He highlighted several initiatives including road construction, healthcare improvements, and educational enhancements that are transforming life in Ogbaru.
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, represented by Secretary to the State Government Prof. Solo Chukwudobelu, along with numerous other dignitaries such as Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Pius Chukwuma Okoye, and representatives from various levels of government, attended the event, showcasing the strong political support for the initiatives in Ogbaru.
