Amosun Making Empty Threats, Playing Dirty Politics – Dapo Abiodun Fires

Amosun vs Abiodun: Ogun APC Set To Suspend 100 Members For Taking Part In ADC Primaries (Full List)

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has berated his predecessor, Senator Ibikunle Amoosun, for openly declaring support for his opponent.

Recall that Amosun had last Friday declared his support for the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Biyi Otegbeye, in next year’s election. Amosun announced his controversial decision despite his support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu. The lawmaker disclosed that he would be supporting Tinubu in 2023, but would not support the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun who is the governorship candidate of the party. Amosun during an interview with BBC Yoruba, in Abeokuta, Ogun State said, “For the presidential poll, I can assure you, both right, left and centre, we are supporting one person (Tinubu). I believe we are supporting one person. On the governorship poll, that’s a different ball game. I don’t belong there. “I don’t hide behind one finger to fight. That’s why people say to me ‘don’t say that.’ On governorship, my supporters and I, we don’t belong to that side.” Amosun when asked about the governorship candidate he would be supporting in 2023, said, “Biyi Otegbeye is the person I am supporting and ADC is the party.” Reacting to Amosun’s open declaration during a meeting with members of the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association, held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, Dapo Abiodun said the former governor will fail in his anti-party politics aimed to scuttle his re-election bid. According to Abiodun, Amosun will fail once again as he did in the 2019 gubernatorial election. He said the lawmaker’s position was an “empty threat of a fallen man”, adding that his second term is already ordained by God. The governor noted that it was a pity that Amosun had quickly forgotten how his adopted candidate “lost woefully” during the last general election, even when he was still in office as Ogun Governor. Abiodun said he will not lose sleep over his predecessor’s “empty threat”, as similar threat in 2019 did not amount to anything, “The same thing that person did in 2019 and failed woefully, even when he was still the governor in the state, he is now preparing to fail again and even fall down. “We are waving goodbye to him now. He is not even a candidate of any political party. He is nothing and he is saying he will stop a governor that God has ordained; he will definitely fail again by the grace of God,” The PUNCH quoted Abiodun as saying.
