ADC Announce Date for Party Congress in Anambra State, Set Price for Nomination Forms

The National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has approved the conduct of State Congress in Anambra State. The detailed activities for the congress are as follow:

  1. Date of the congresses – 30th April, 2021
  2. Venue: State Secretariat, Behind old CBN, Zik Avenue, Awka
    3.Time:10.00am

SCHEDULE/TIME TABLE FOR THE CONGRESS:

  1. Registration of new members/revalidation of old members at ward levels through purchase of membership cards and payment of membership dues to the appropriate national accounts – April 5 – 20th, 2021. Membership dues should be paid into the membership account: UBA, 1022257531, African Democratic Congress.
  2. Expression of interests/purchase of Nomination forms from the National headquarters through the State Caretaker Committee – April 10 – 28, 2021. All nomination fees should be paid into the National account: UBA, 1005814032, African Democratic Congress.
    NOTE: Please note that membership dues and nomination fees can’t go into the same account.
  3. Last day for submission of completed nomination forms by candidates at the state Secretariat – April 28, 2021
  4. Screening of candidates at the State Secretariat – April 29, 2021
  5. Congress Election Day – April 30, 2021.
  6. Congress Election Appeal – May 1, 2021
  7. Inauguration of the newly elected executive – May 2, 2021 NOMINATION FEES:
  8. State Chairman – N50,000.00
  9. Deputy State Chairman, State Secretary & State Treasurer – N25,000.00
  10. Other Substantive State Offices – N20,000.00
  11. All Deputy/Vice/Assistant positions – N10,000.00
  12. LGA Chairmen – N10,000.00
  13. LGA Deputy Chairmen, Secretaries &Treasurer’s – N7,000.00
  14. Other LGA Executives – N5,000.00
  15. Ward Chairmen – N5,000.00
  16. Other Ward Executives – N2,000.00

CONGRESS ELECTION GUIDELINES

  1. All delegates must be bonafide and financially up-to-date members of the party .
  2. All aspirants to party offices should have spent a minimum of two(2) years in the party and should have paid two years membership dues. Members who have not stayed up to two (2) years in the party should pay four (4) years membership dues to qualify for waiver to contest the State Chairmanship position. Other new members aspiring to other party offices than the Chairmanship shall pay three(3) years membership dues to qualify for a waiver.
  3. All payments of Nomination fees shall be made to the National Headquarters account as earlier indicated and candidates and delegates shall show evidence of payment before being allowed into the Congress Hall to vote or be voted for.
  4. NWC has adopted a Direct Congress process whereby all card carrying and financially up-to-date members shall participate in the Congress.
  5. The Congress shall be conducted under strict compliance with Covid-19 Safety measures and protocols. The State caretaker Committee shall provide hand sanitizers, buckets for hand washing and infra red temperature gauge, among others. All participants in the congress shall wear face masks before admission into the congress hall.
  6. The scheduled Congress shall not hold if the number of financially up-to-date members is less than 300 by 20th April, 2021. And the postponement of the Congress will have adverse effects on the Caretaker Committee.
  7. Where two or more candidates are vying for one position, the secret ballot system shall be adopted for the congress. But, where a single candidate is vying for a position, the Congress Committee shall have the discretion to adopt either a voice vote or a secret ballot to confirm the candidature. Where the candidate polls more “Nay” than “Yes”, he or she loses the election.
  8. The Congress shall be conducted with the 2018 Constitution of the party.
