The men’s football tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris is set to be a thrilling spectacle, featuring 16 teams from around the globe competing across seven cities in France.

The tournament will kick off on July 24, two days before the official opening ceremony, with host nation France facing off against the United States.

The teams have been drawn into four groups:

  • Group A France, USA, Guinea, New Zealand
  • Group B Argentina, Morocco, Iraq, Ukraine
  • Group C Uzbekistan, Spain, Egypt, Dominican Republic
  • Group D Japan, Paraguay, Mali, Israel

This year’s tournament promises intense competition and showcases a mix of established football powerhouses and emerging talents. With back-to-back reigning Olympic champions Brazil failing to qualify, the stage is set for new champions to emerge.

France, led by coach Thierry Henry, is considered a strong contender for gold on home turf. Henry’s focus is clear: “I am looking at the gold medal, but I know it’s a very long road to reach it”.

Football fans worldwide can expect a blend of skill, passion, and youthful exuberance as these under-23 teams, augmented by a few over-age players, vie for Olympic glory.
