2023: What Atiku Said About Shekarau's Return To PDP

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has welcomed the former Kano State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau to the party.

Naija News reports that the ceremony to receive Shekarau back from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the PDP was held on Monday in Kano State. Shekarau defected along with thousands of his fans and supporters after a fallout with the NNPP leader and presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso. The former Kano governor was also presented with his PDP membership card at the ceremony on Monday which was attended by PDP National Leaders. In a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Monday afternoon, Atiku said Shekarau will bring his wealth of experience to the opposition party. The former Vice President stated that the PDP family has grown bigger today with the return of the former Kano governor to the party. Atiku added that Shekarau would join hands with other party stakeholders to oust the APC and enthrone a new era of prosperity and good governance for Nigerians. https://twitter.com/atiku/status/1564253956251041793

Kwankwaso Humiliated Me

Prior to the official defection, former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau had revealed the reason for dumping the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). The senator, while speaking to a crowd at the Kano Foundation office along BUK Road, accused the presidential candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso of not only betraying him but humiliating him. Shekarau disclosed that during his brief stay in the NNPP, he was the only one given a senatorial form while leaving his teeming supporters to wallow in destitution.
