AHEAD of the 2023 Nigeria Presidential election, Nigerians’ hope still on the fence, yearning for a saviour to assuage the debilitating challenges ranging from insecurity, economic downturn, bad governance, among other issues confronting the peaceful coexistence of the country.

Resultantly, there is a growing clamour for the likes of Mr Peter Obi. This is despite the inability of the Vice Presidential Candidate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria to clinch victory in the exercise.

Recall that Mr Peter Obi (Okwute Ndi Igbo) had set his record during his tenure as governor of Anambra state. His various economic development achievements, among other breakthroughs in the state, still speak volume as they till date compliment Obi’s displays of great intelligential in leadership.

Notwithstanding, Mr Obi who was believed to be at a perfect fit for the position of a president in the past general election, however chose to run under the presidential candidate of Atiku Abubakar as his Vice. His decision was said to be in a right direction towards solving the perpetual economic downturns in Nigeria, while others described it as a gross mistake that could have mared his political ambition.

Against all odds, he practically proved his eargerness and the rationality behind the decision when he demonstratively shown a rare intellectual capacity to finding a lasting solution to the economic woes long bedeviling the country. Thus his views as well as possible panaceas, during the last Vice Presidential Candidates debate on the national Television could make one begin to think Nigeria a Dubai already.

Nonetheless, it is however on record that the former governor of Anambra state had upon the perceived feelings of irregularities that allegedly led to his lose in the race, fought tooth and nail down in the Tribunal. Though, a Titanic battle which eventually could not amount to victory for the supposed Political Titan.

This a proven stance, going by the past records of the various judgements passed by the electoral Tribunal, the move taken by Obi after the announcement of the results by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, … could be described as a wild goose chase.

Consequently, the economic situation of the country is till today, being rocked to the mud, which had resulted in further hardships melted on the masses.

As a means to cushioning the post COVID 19 effects as well as support the citizens for self reliance, the federal government of Nigeria has been in a consistent want of money. This has led to the continuous borrowing of loans from China among other foreign countries in order to fund the country’s budget among other things.

Worthy of note, Mr Obi who is referred to as Okwute Ndi Igbo is being seen by many as a coming Messiah that will be able to put a stop to the economic woes, cries of the people especially that of the South East region against the perpetual alleged marginalization.

Thus, in a countdown to the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, fliers for the presidential candidate for Mr Peter Obi flooded some major cities in the country. Although, Mr Obi has distanced self from the alleged circulation of fliers on his behalf.

However, the question still unaddressed is; is Obi ready to take the mantle of leadership from the present administration?

On the other hand, the post electoral events since the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria have indicated that the immediate former president of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has had his name written in the sands of time as one of the best president ever had in the democratic history of Nigeria.

Little wonder, a lots of the political sycophants who participated actively in belittling GEJ have today turned out from their previous stance. This gives reasons why the speculations over GEJ’s possible return to power comes 2023.

Although, no administration is said to be flawless, and GEJ’ s wasn’t exceptional however, the momenta of pressures against any government are what determine the success of such administration.

These pressures comprising political, religious, ethnic, security among other factors are what contribute to the success or failure of any administration. Thus, the past administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan is a good example.

At this point, one could be compelled to ask; if the government of former administration was tampered with and rendered unsuccessful with regards to its inability to address the insecurity in the country, activities of the separatists, marginalization etc despite the overwhelming energy, time and money channelled to the 2014 confabulation. what else could someone else has to say about the problems ripping the country apart?

Today, amidst the dying echoes of voices clamouring for restructuring, comes a resounding voice calling for Mr Peter Obi. In a loud cry of naira begging for a rescue, beckons more foreign loans.

Amidst yearnings of the public, waiting for a Messiah against the incessant cases of insurgencies, farmers/herders ‘clashes’ bandits among others, comes the growing disharmony among the geopolitical zones in Nigeria. Where as the North oppose the anti-open grazing law, restructuring, presidential zoning, Value Added Tax among others, comes a growing state of uncertainties ahead of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.

In times like this, when waves of agitations championed by certain groups seeking to secede from the country gather momenta, uncertainties ahead of the upcoming general elections grow wings, insecurity in the country becomes glaring, all against the general consensus, then not Mr Peter Obi is the solution.

In situations of a topsy-turvy threatening the atmospheric echoes of peace, unity and coexistence of the various regions in Nigeria, Mr Peter Obi would be overwhelmed.

To this extent, there is a sense in which one must acknowledge the fact that in the absence of unalloyed supports from the various geopolitical zones in Nigeria, coming together to make a new document that would enable restructuring of the country, no single individual regardless of ethnic identity, religion or education qualification can solve the problems ripping Nigeria apart. Not even Mr Peter Obi, neither you nor I am fit for the position.
