2023 National Assembly: Abia women moves to entrench responsive representation in Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency, prevail on Emeka Utah to accept demands to join race

Abia women under the aegis of Umuada Ikwuano-na-Umuahia Forum (UIUF), on Friday, issued ultimatum to a Business mogul and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Taurus Hotels Nigeria Limited, Chief Chukwuemeka Utah to join the race for the seat of Ikuwano/Umuahia federal Constituency of Abia state ahead of 2023 House of Representatives election in the state.
The women group hinted that Chief Utah possessed the leadership acumen and requisite qualifications to assume the seat of Ikuwano/Umuahia federal Constituency, citing the immense and incomparable contributions and gestures towards the socio-economic and Infrastructural developement of the Constituency.
In a communique jointly signed by its Woman leader, Lady Patricia Onwudinjor and the Public Relation Officer, Comrade Nkechi Nora Nwabuisi, and issued to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital on Friday, the women forum, assured to mobilize women across the three local government area of the state that formed Ikwuano/Umuahia federal Constituency to actualize the clarion call for Chief Utah to join the race aimed at addressing yearnings of the people of the areas which range from decadence in Infrastructure, youth, men and women unemployment, absence of important federal government’s Social Investment and Developement programmes etc.
The socio-cultural women organization, stated in clear term that the Ikwuano/Umuahia constituency is lagging behind in economic and Infrastructural developement in all facets of governance and also regretted the alleged inability of successive representatives of the federal Constituency to address the numerous challenges impeding the growth of the area, appealing to the renowned Umuahia-born philanthropist to heed to people’s calls by relinquishing his accomplished privacies.
The UIUF also posited that time is now for patriotic people of Ikwuano/Umuahia of Abia geopolitical bloc to align themselves with developmental politics and further disclosed that it shall commence mobilization of eligible women, men and youths to prevail on Chief Utah.
Meanwhile, a think tank group, Umuahia League of Professionals (ULP), has described Chief Chukwuemeka Utah as the best materials to occupy the exalted seat of Ikwuano/Umuahia federal Constituency come 2023.
The group stated unequivocally that it is the turn of the Ohuhu Umuahia extraction to assume the leadership position of the federal Constituency in the Nigerian House of Representatives come 2023.
According to a release on Friday, “we call on all politcal parties for the coming general election in the state to zone their House of Representatives seat to Umuahia North state Constituency as the particular Abia extraction has continued to suffer aged long marginalization on desire to occupy the politcal office in the interest of justice, equity and fairness”.
The group also vowed to resist any aspirant or candidate outside Ohuhu clan in Umuahia North local government area of the state, and further vowed that it would equally mobilize electorates across the length and breadth of the constituency to ensure the candidate do not sail through in the three local government areas that formed the present Ikwuano/Umuahia bloc.
