2023: Deji AdAeyanju Accuses Peter Obi Of Raising Funds From Diaspora

Political activist, Deji Adeyanju has accused the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, of receiving funds from Nigerians in Diaspora to fund his campaign.

Adeyanju was reacting to a report that the LP has inaugurated an 11-man committee to raise funds and galvanise support for the party’s presidential candidate. Taking to his Twitter page on Friday, Adeyanju alleged that the LP and Obi are raising funds from Nigerians in Diaspora in contravention of Sections 225 and 85 of the Electoral Act. The activist said Obi and his party lacked character and were not different from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) they criticised. Adeyanju, however, advised the former Governor of Anambra State to return the money collected if he has any shame or integrity. He wrote: “No political party or candidate can receive donations or funds from outside Nigeria under our laws. See SC 225 and 85 of EA. Obi must do full disclosure and return every dollar he has received from the diaspora immediately if he has any integrity or shame.” https://twitter.com/adeyanjudeji/status/1565748999449153538 https://twitter.com/adeyanjudeji/status/1565725256437977092
