2023: Abiodun Meets APC Chairman Adamu Behind Closed Door

2023: Abiodun Meets APC Chairman Adamu Behind Closed Door

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on Tuesday met with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Naija News reports that the governor met with the APC chairman behind closed doors at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. It was learned Abiodun was received by the former Nasarawa governor who led him into his office for the meeting which lasted for an hour. After the meeting, governor Abiodun failed to talk to reporters who waited patiently for him and left the premises in his convoy. Recall that a criminal petition was written against the Ogun governor seeking his disqualification from participating in the 2022 governorship primary in the state. The National Association of Nigerian Students (Zone D) petitioned the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and Adamu over his alleged criminal records in the United States of America. However, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Kunle Somorin, Abiodun urged Adamu not to pay any attention to a petition written against him. The governor described the petition as a move to deprive him of the opportunity to set the records straight, adding that the petition was characterized by falsehood, malice and should be disregarded. He said the petition, which was based on hearsay, is full of spurious and unfounded allegations meant to mislead the party into disqualifying him from participating in the 2023 governorship election. Abiodun said the petitions are nothing more than the machinations of political jobbers and saboteurs sponsored by desperate opposition elements to disrupt the peaceful political atmosphere in Ogun State.
