2023: Abia Governor, Ikpeazu Speaks On Dumping PDP

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has refuted reports that he is set to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He made this known on Thursday during the grand finale of a week-long activity marking the 31st-anniversary celebration of Abia State held in Umuahia. Ikpeazu, a key ally of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, called on the leadership of the PDP to prioritise national cohesion, security and inclusiveness ahead of the 2023 presidential election. He said: “I am an important member of the PDP. We are not in a hurry to leave PDP. “However, as a leader of the Igbo, I want to draw the attention of my party to the fact that there are three things the leadership of Nigeria needs. “One is security, we need to arrest the slide in terms of insecurity. We need to fast track socio-economic development and national cohesion and inclusiveness.”
